Exchange Programme

Students from the College frequently participate in overseas student exchange programmes. Students have travelled to a number of countries including the United States, Hungary, France, Argentina, Spain and Germany.
The College also benefits from hosting a number of overseas students.
We welcome applications from overseas students who will join the school and live with local home-stay families.

One of the exchange student's we welcomed last year was Max. Max was from Spain and this is what he had to say about his experience in New Zealand.

I am flying back home, from Queenstown to Auckland, then to LA, London and at the end Madrid (Spain). I wrote this essay in the plane remembering the highlights in NZ during 10 weeks.

With tears in my eyes I remember the arrival to Queenstown, where Bruce and Marie Humphries and their daughter Ellen were waiting. I also remember the cold of the first week and my first day at NSC. I don’t forget the work in the farm; feeding cows and sheep, lambing sheep and the ‘funniest’ thing; picking up dead lamb. Farming was new for me and I liked it.

I have to admit that the first day in NSC I was a little bit scared, but soon the teachers and friends helped me and I was one more student.

I always remember yr 11 class. Tom was one of them, he was also on my bus, and him and all yr 11 (Brodie, Nathan, ML, Mufadhal, Sage, Allanah, Joel, BJ, Nardia, Ellie, Hayden. Tegan, Abby, Vin...) helped me with the English (and I helped them with some Spanish words), but it was more than just English, it was laughs, laughs and more laughs.

I’ll never forget my first steps in hockey. I had never played hockey before but they suggested me and now I love it. The week tournament in Oamaru was awesome. The team, the coach and Mrs Read helped me a lot and I’ll never forget the laughs, laughs and more laughs we had.

They said to me I had to write an essay of my highlights in NZ and why you should go to NSC to learn English. Well, I’ve said enough, now you have to discover it by you own.

I have to say thanks to the Humphries (special thanks to my host sister Ellen) and to all the teachers and students (special thanks to yr 11 class) for all the English I’ve learnt and for all the moments we had. THANK YOU.

Bien, he suficiente, ahora tú tienes que descubrirlo.

GRACIAS.
