Enrolment

At Northern Southland College we welcome enrolment from both New Zealand and international students. Our students come from a range of nationalities and we are well known as both welcoming and understanding of all cultures and backgrounds.

Enrolment Steps

The first step to enrolment is a phone call to the office to make an appointment to meet with the Principal.

  • When you come to the college you will have the opportunity to discuss enrolment options and have a tour of the school facilities, specialist classrooms and meet some of our staff.
  • At this time you will then be asked to complete an individual enrolment form for your child/ren.
  • Please bring either an original Birth Certificate or Passport as part of enrolment process, along with a copy of your child's Vaccination Records.
  • For Non-New Zealand Residents we are required to sight both the passport and visa of your child, together with a copy of their Vaccination Records.
  • Students from our contributing primary schools will have an enrolment pack delivered to their school.

Enrolment Documents

Dowload the form to complete the details.  It will then need to be printed and signed before returning to the NSC office.

Transport

All students who live inside the NSC Transport Entitlement Zone (TEZ) NSC TEZ are entitled to MOE funded transport.

The school has many routes all operated by Go Bus Services. To view the bus routes or contact Greig Neilson our Network Manager, please click on the following link: Dome Easybus

Buses arrive at school by 8:50 am and depart from school by 3:45 pm each day. Students should be ready for their buses so that the schedule is not held up. A roll call is taken by the bus monitor for each trip - any student not going home on the bus in the afternoon should report to the office before leaving school, this is to ensure that their name is taken off the roll for that trip.

Students should notify their bus driver as soon as possible if they are not travelling on the school bus in the morning.

The College contact for the bus company is the Bus Controller Mr. Bruce Lee (03 902 4122). Any new students who require the school bus service please contact the College Office (03 248 7121).

The College uses a text message system to communicate with parents and students in event of an emergency or an unforeseen route closure (e.g. snow day). Individual bus groups will also be notified if they have any issues. Please contact the College if you change your cellphone number during the year and also please notify the College if your home location has poor or no cellphone coverage.

Each student will sign a School Bus Code of Conduct at the start of each year. This outlines expectations for behaviour and procedures for breaches of discipline. Mr Lee is the Bus Controller and any problems you have should be referred to him directly bruce.lee@nsc.school.nz . If you want to travel on a bus other than your usual run your parents must arrange this beforehand by either emailing the school office office@nsc.school.nz or phoning (03) 2487121. Such travel can only be approved if spare seats are available.
